105:1 Did you not see/understand how (what) your Lord made/did with the elephant's owners/company/ friends?

# i think the people of the elephant, or "ashabalfeel", of chapter "the elephant" could very well be an allusion to the then people/nation/kingdom of ethiopia! Smile

## wat say peepz?

Can you elaborate more upon what, you have mentioned.

Let me make things clear, and from my understanding, we have to understand the Elephant year according to the historical sources was in the 570 AD, and the first message revealed to the Prophet was around 610 AD.

So thats 40 years after the advent of occurred, Elephant year when this verse was revealed in to the Prophet there must be lots of them who lived during the time of the Prophet as well as in the Elephant year, let say they are around 60 years so they lived for this particular occassion.

Logically this cant be fantasy and concocted by someone who wasnt born to see this occurrence and couldnt lie further as they were other gentiles who did visit this live.

# yes....in view of the fact that this has been recorded in arab history...it would be hypocritical to reject it only in favor of somebody else's version of history! (-:

## coming back to what i have said, the verse is clear about its calling these people, whoever they were, "people of the elephant"!

...now then, on one side of the red sea lies ethiopia, which was under the rule of romans, who had converted to christianity, and would have looked to expand into arabia, which was in the pre-muhammad era, dominated by "pagans"!

# ethiopia being a part of africa...has a large number of elephants! so what v have here is a kingdom which is likely to have been renowned for the huge number of these huge animals, which in all likelihood had been tamed and used for a variety of purposes, including wars!

(...according to history, there had been an attempt by ethiopian army to advance from yemen and launch an attack on mecca..)

...so there is a good possibility that there occured some event, in which god dealt a blow to the christian (ethiopian) designs....and which has been alluded to in the quran!

# and given the fact that the ethiopian kingdom would have been known for its huge numbers of elephants...it seems very likely that these peope have been called the people of the elephant! (-:
